Security Workshop

Date: Monday, 19 March 2018
Venue: 3F, Building for Humanities and Social Science, Academia Sinica

Organisers:

Description:

All Cloud Users, as for example those using EGI FedCloud, are usually confronted with system administration tasks which are usually not part of their scientific curriculum. To help fill this gap the full-day Security Workshop at ISGC 2018 will focus on the basics of secure system administration. In the presentations, the current threat landscape including typical attacks on systems will be described, as well as the various ways criminals monetize systems they gained control over. The afternoon discussions and hands-on exercises will give participants the opportunity to learn more about the operational security and incident response skills required by virtual machine managers in a federated Cloud infrastructure. This training is part of a series of IT-security trainings developed within the EOSC-hub project.
